Publication on our websites

It is widely known that nowadays the majority of companies own their websites. In the beginning everything seems really easy. A design of your website is proposed, a front page (where you place a photo to look attractive), then a page with contacts and one more with references. The website is created by somebody from a company (who’s got time and has computer skills) or some relative (usual a student). The sites are loaded online and the work is done. As time proceeds, the company realises that it would be suitable to keep updating and assure that the pages are shown on various kinds of web browsers and that it would be excellent to have the whole range of goods presented on the website.  These are the  reasons why there are various tools being developed to help publish data on the company’s website in a way that the user is not concerned with the technical part of the issue but pays attention only to the content of their websites. The content management system that we provide makes this possible. When creating a website the first thing to happen is a formation of a website arrangement and a graphic design. After the client’s approval the part of a server application is prepared. That looks after correct displaying of presented data in particular types of browsers and keeps the same graphic appearance of individual websites. The host servers are connected to the main Internet network to enable the company websites webhosting. The user of the content management system only cares about the content of their company websites and don’t have to care about the correct font and size of their new phone number which they place on the page. They care only about content the appearance is taken care of by the content management system.

We publish online as well as offline
What do these two terms mean? If we present data on our websites online it means that we are connected via a browser to the content management system and all the changes we carry out are immediately transferred into the final website appearance. On the other hand, publishing offline is proceeded differently. In a client application, which is installed on the user’s computer, a preparation of content is under way without connecting a computer to the Internet and as all the modifications are carried out the data is sent to the content management system.

In the chart below you can see the comparison of both the advantages and disadvantages of the publication online and offline.

The advantage is marked with +, the disadvantage with -

online publication
offline publication
- client application -  it is necessary to be installed on the user’s computer
+ there is no need to install anything, everything works by means of a web browser
+ the preparation of data is fast and the comfort of the application is with comparison with offline very high
- every change is stored to a server by means of forms, after storing the data, it is loaded into a browser, it is not possible to achieve user’s comfort as the work is significantly slower
- websites can be edited only from a computer with an installed application
+ if the user remembers the password and username they can update their website from anywhere with the access to the Internet
+ during the preparation time there is no need of online connection
- during the preparation time of a content the computer must be connected to the Internet
+ when selecting an appropriate client’s application even great volumes of data may be published
- when publishing great volumes of data, operating via a browser is complicated and difficult
